Missions

  • To enhance understanding between parents, teachers and school, thus to forge close home-school contacts
  • To organize talks, seminars and other activities for parents and teachers
  • To discuss, assist and promote education issues and students’ activities and work jointly to enhance the welfare of children and learning environment

 

Membership

  • The serving the headmistress and teachers of the school shall be ex-officio members.
  • The parents or guardians of current student are automatically recognized as member, one family as a unit. If member has more than one child in our school, the membership will be arranged based on the youngest child as single unit, double membership will not be arranged.
  • The current and past employees, graduated students’ parents could apply for membership, membership will be given upon the approval from PTA Committees.

 

Rights and Duties of Members

  • The parent members shall have the right to vote and the right to stand for election as committee members, and shall enjoy the right to propose and second a motion and to vote at the general meeting, which they are entitled to attend.
  • Each member shall have the obligation to obey the rules stipulated in the Constitution and pay the annual membership fee.
  • For PTA organized activities, priority and discounted prices will be given to our members.

 

Membership Fee

  • Membership fee will be evaluated and amended during annual general meeting.
  • The association shall not refund the membership fee already paid by the parents.
  • Membership fee will be evaluated and amended during annual general meeting.
  • Ex-officio members and the teacher members shall not be required to pay the membership fee.

 

Organization

  • The Association shall be made up of the “General Meeting” and the “Executive Committee”.
  • The “General Meeting” is composed of all the members and is the unit with the highest authority in the Association. During the recess of the “General Meeting”, all the affairs of the Association shall be handled by the “Committee”.
  • The “General Meeting” shall be convened by the “Committee”, including “Annual General Meeting” and “Extraordinary General Meetings”.
  • The quorum for all “General Meetings” shall not be less than 30 percent of members, in a lack of quorum, the meeting will be adjourned and resumed within 30 days.
  • The quorum for all “Executive Committee Meetings” shall not be less than 50 percent of members, in a lack of quorum, the meeting will be adjourned and resumed within 14 days.

Executive Committee Members include:
Consultant: Ms. Cheng, Ka-yee, Headmistress
Chairman: One Parent
Vice Chairman: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher
Secretary: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher
Treasurer: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher
Communications: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher
General Affairs: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher
Recreational Officer: One parent and one kindergarten coordinator/ teacher

The term of office for all committee members shall be 1 school year. The “General Meeting” shall be convened at least once a year. During the meeting, the Chairman/ Vice Chairman of the previous year shall report on the general affairs and the financial status of the Association in the previous school year.

“Executive Committees (Parent Member)” shall be elected by all members at Annual General Meeting, while “Executive Committees (Teacher Member)” shall be recommended by school Principal.

 

Finance

  • The Association may use its money to develop its affairs and pay for its expenses.
  • The treasurer shall report the financial status of the Association at every “Executive Committee” meeting.
  • “Executive Committee” has the right to arrange some of the funds to be donated to our school for setting up prizes or any other purposes. The principal has the right to use the funding from the PTA.
  • The “Executive Committee” shall keep all the income received by the Association in a designated bank account. All cheques for withdrawing the monies of the Association shall be valid only if they have the signatures of two designated committee members.

 

Amendments of the Constitution

Any amendments to the Constitution shall be passed by at least two-thirds of the members present at the “General Meeting”.

 

Dissolution of the Parent-Teacher Association

In the event of dissolution of the Association, the relevant decision of dissolution shall be agreed upon by at least two-thirds of the parent members present at the “General Meeting” or the “Extraordinary General Meeting”. Any surplus assets are to be donated to our school or any other charities at the discretion of members.
